Got an email from Qatar with a birthday promo for 10% off any flight booked within 90 days. Sounded nice.
Tried to use it today and the price didn’t change at all. Called customer care and they told me the code wasn’t working and that they’d issue a new one in 2 to 3 hours.
Called back after 4 hours and got a completely different story. Now they say the code doesn’t work for economy because Qatar already applies “internal promo pricing” and when I add my birthday code, the system treats it like I’m trying to stack two promos.
I asked where on the website it says the fare is promotional. Rep said I can’t see it, but they can see it on their end. The T&Cs of the birthday code literally say it applies to all classes.
So what’s the point of sending a birthday promo if it never actually discounts anything? Wasted about 3 hours going back and forth for nothing.
Anyone else find these Qatar promo codes to be total fluff?
