I’ve now received a refund breakdown, but the total amount returned is lower than what I originally paid. When I contacted support, they told me that “government taxes and fees are non-refundable” and would not be returned.
I find this confusing because the airline cancelled the flight, so I assumed I would be entitled to a full refund of everything I paid, including taxes and surcharges.
Is Qatar Airways allowed to withhold taxes in this situation? Are there any rules or regulations I can reference to request a full refund, and what is the best way to escalate beyond chat support?
