I recently managed to book 4 business class seats on Qatar Airways from IAH to DOH using points on a saver fare (70k points + approximately $297 taxes per seat).
The only downside is that the flight is on a Boeing 777-200 with a 2-2-2 business class configuration, so it is not Qsuites. I was expecting Qsuites since Qatar is usually known for them, especially on long-haul routes, but it seems this aircraft is being used for this leg instead.
From what I understand, they are operating the 777 in May and then switching to an A350 with Qsuites in June, so it looks like timing played a role.
Has anyone here flown Qatar Airways long-haul in the 2-2-2 business class layout? How does it compare in terms of privacy, comfort, and overall experience versus Qsuites?
Also curious if equipment swaps closer to departure are common on this route.
