This is such a brutal gotcha. Family finishing up a Disney trip, upgraded Park Hopper tickets to Magic Key through the app during a hotel break, and boom. Original tickets instantly voided. Magic Key not valid that day. Denied entry at DCA even though they were already in the parks that morning with Lightning Lanes booked.
Cast member basically said buy another ticket or go deal with it elsewhere. Thankfully a manager eventually fixed it, but wow. That could have gone really badly.
Lesson learned the hard way. Do not upgrade to Magic Key until you are completely done with your trip and out of the parks. The app makes it way too easy to shoot yourself in the foot.
