Just a heads-up, boarding the NE Regional from Washington DC today, they stopped everyone with a suitcase and made us test it in the measurement bin. If even half a wheel stuck out, you had to pay the $20 oversize fee. Total confusion since most of us had never seen Amtrak enforce this.
Employee said they started doing this about five months ago, but this is the first time I’ve actually witnessed it.
So yeah, if you’re traveling soon, maybe split into two smaller bags instead of bringing a borderline roller.
