Just finished 5 days in Malta and the bus system was a nightmare. Constant 40+ min waits, buses skipping stops, random route changes, and so overcrowded they often wouldn’t even stop. Twice we ended up stranded and had to take expensive taxis.
And the 7-day “Explore Card”? Scam. Doesn’t cover ferries like the ads imply, and it rejected my ride after one use on a “premium” bus unless I added more money.
If you’re visiting, avoid the buses and card, it killed so much of our trip.
