I know some people roll their eyes at travel insurance, but mine has genuinely been worth it.
I use an annual mid tier plan that costs about $250 a year. Last year I had a concert trip get rescheduled and ended up claiming around $300 in nonrefundable hotel and activities. They paid out in 3 days.
On a cruise in November I had to cancel a $190 excursion last minute because of a flare up from a chronic illness. Insurance reimbursed me before I even got off the ship.
Now my return flight from a Virgin cruise was rescheduled to something that doesn’t work, and the trip credit expires in 12 days with no extension. Planning to file another claim and expecting it to be covered.
It sounds like a lot upfront, but if you travel even a few times a year, especially weekend trips, it can really make sense.
