Posting this because I really wish I had seen a warning like this earlier.
My fiancé and I were booking our honeymoon flights through the Chase portal. I have CSR with the 1.5x uplift, she has her own points. I called Chase to help us book together on the same itinerary.
The rep told us to just combine our points. Said it would be instant, no fees, and that my 1.5x redemption rate would carry over. Sounded fine.
It was all wrong.
The moment the transfer happened, the points showed up at 1x value. Not 1.5x. That turned into four hours of getting bounced between reps and supervisors, all repeating that transfers never keep the uplift.
Then someone said they could undo it. Instead, they put my points back at 1x and somehow wiped out my fiancé’s 1.5x eligible points too, even though those were earned on her own card.
End result is we’re down about 275k points at the 1.5x rate less than a month before our honeymoon. Support offered an escalation and that’s it. No fix yet.
Learn from my mistake. Do not combine Chase points unless you’re totally fine losing the uplift. The reps do not understand the system and the system does not forgive errors.
