Just a heads-up for anyone considering the proposal package with Princess Cruises.
I recently got engaged aboard the Star Princess, and the proposal itself was incredible. The package cost around $790, which is certainly expensive, but Princess did a fantastic job with the setup and execution. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and thankfully she said yes.
One of the included features was approximately 90 minutes with a professional photographer. They captured photos before, during, and after the proposal, and took us around the ship for additional shots. Everything seemed perfect until we visited the photo gallery later that evening to review the images.
That's when we discovered the digital photo pricing.
We were quoted roughly $799 for every 10 digital photos. The photographer had taken around 50 photos in total, and we had no idea the images would cost that much. At no point during the booking process or our discussions about the package were the photo prices clearly explained.
Since these were our only professional engagement photos, we felt pressured into purchasing a selection of them and ultimately spent around $1,500 for 20 digital images.
The proposal experience itself was wonderful, but the photo pricing left a very sour taste. If you're considering this package, make sure you ask detailed questions about photo costs beforehand so there are no surprises on what should be a very special day.
