Preferred Hotels & Resorts just rolled out 18 new member properties, and I’ve gotta say some of these are bucket-list level. You’ve got everything from a medieval fortress with in-room thermal baths in Tuscany, yes please to a zen-like luxury spot in the heart of Shanghai. They’ve also added a castle spa resort in Austria, beachfront eco-retreats in Costa Rica, and even a Southern-style inn in Austin that opens later this year.
I’m always partial to the smaller, independently-run properties that don’t feel like carbon copies of every other hotel and this feels like Preferred doubling down on that vibe. If you're an I Prefer Rewards member, you get 2,500 bonus points for stays at the new spots, which is a decent perk on top of their usual upgrades and late checkout stuff.
Anyone else stayed at a Preferred property that really impressed? I’m curious how these newer ones compare, especially for those of us trying to avoid the mega-chain hotel experience.
