Looks like Preferred Hotels & Resorts is on a bit of a tear they’ve just brought in four new high-end U.S. properties, including Nemacolin in Pennsylvania and The Charleston Place in South Carolina. Add in Green Pastures coming to Austin this fall, and it’s clear they’re leaning hard into upscale, independent stays with real character.
I’ve stayed at a couple Preferred properties over the years and always liked that you weren’t getting the cookie-cutter chain vibe. That said, I’m curious how much of this expansion is a loyalty push versus actual demand especially with the new points bonuses they’re offering to I Prefer members. If this trend keeps up, some of these independents might start looking more like soft-brand collections than true one-offs.
Anyone stayed at one of these new additions yet? Nemacolin’s been on my radar for a while.
