Has anyone seen passengers who volunteered to gate-check their carry-on bags being allowed to board during the pre-boarding phase?
On a recent Delta flight, around 40 passengers boarded during pre-boarding under the announcement “those who volunteered to check their carry-on, please board now.” This happened even before Sky Priority groups were called.
It seemed unusual compared to what I have seen before, where pre-boarding is typically more limited. I’m wondering if this is a new policy or if it depends on the gate agent’s discretion.
