Possible loophole for a cheaper ANA business class flight to Tokyo

I was looking at flights from NYC to Tokyo on ANA and the normal roundtrip price is around $6,300 in business class.

But I found an interesting workaround. A flight from NYC to Delhi on American Airlines is about $2,000. Then there’s an ANA business class ticket from Delhi to Tokyo to NYC for around $1,800, and it allows a two week stopover in Tokyo, which is actually where I want to go.

So in total it would cost about $3,800 for NYC to Delhi to Tokyo to NYC, which is roughly a 40% discount compared to booking the standard NYC to Tokyo roundtrip.

The only extra complication would be doing a self transfer in Delhi. I’m mostly wondering if this kind of booking is actually allowed or if there’s a risk the airline could cancel the ticket.
