Just got back from Bora Bora and Moorea and honestly it was the best trip of my life. My bank account is still recovering though.
The overwater bungalow lived up to the hype. Waking up and jumping straight into that clear blue water never got old. Snorkeling was unreal too, reef sharks and stingrays everywhere.
Food at the resorts is painful. Like $40 breakfasts. We started eating at local spots instead and it was way better and cheaper. The poisson cru at the smaller places was amazing.
Flights were rough. We paid around $2200 per person from LAX because we waited too long. Inter island flights are not cheap either but you kind of need them if you want to see more than one island.
Crazy expensive trip, but I do not regret it at all. Already thinking about going back someday.
