I’m convinced it’s a genetic trait at this point.
I can doze for maybe 20 minutes at a time, wake up stiff, dehydrated, and somehow more tired than before. Meanwhile the person next to me knocks out after takeoff and wakes up at landing like it was a nap at home.
Same as you, I’ve stopped fighting it. I plan for the zombie day on arrival, hydrate, walk, coffee strategically, and accept that I won’t feel human for a day or two. Stressing about sleep just makes it worse.
Huge respect to the people who can actually get real rest at 35,000 feet. That’s a superpower I’ll never have.
