Flew Madinah to Dubai in Economy. I had:
• One checked bag
• One carry on
• One laptop bag
I genuinely did not know that Emirates Economy does not allow a separate laptop bag in addition to the main cabin bag. That’s on me.
But here’s what bothers me: I went through the baggage counter with everything. No one said a word about it. The agent even asked if I wanted to check my hand carry, but never explained there was an issue with having two cabin items.
I had space and weight left in my checked bag. If someone had simply told me the rule at the counter, I would have adjusted things right there.
Instead, I get stopped at boarding by a crew member who asks, in a pretty rude tone, how I have two bags. It felt unnecessary and embarrassing. There was a way to handle that politely.
I understand rules are rules. Just wish it had been handled better and earlier in the process.
