I recently returned from a week-long cruise on Princess Cruises aboard the ship Enchanted Princess. During the trip, I booked a specialty restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
The base price for the dining experience was $55 per person, which already felt quite expensive. However, after receiving my account summary, I noticed an additional 20 percent service charge of $11 was added on top, bringing the total to $66 per person.
I was surprised by the final cost and feel it is quite high, especially considering that meals are already included in the cruise fare. I am wondering if other passengers, particularly those from Europe, feel the same way about these extra charges for specialty dining, or if this pricing is generally considered normal on cruise ships.
