I was on an international Delta flight when a mother and her teenage son were seated in the main cabin.
Just before boarding finished, the mother called a flight attendant and asked if her son could be moved to Delta One, saying he would really like to sit in first class.
The flight attendant looked surprised and asked for clarification, then explained that it was not possible.
It was an awkward moment, and I felt for both the mother and the flight attendant who had to handle the situation.
However, about 10 minutes later, once boarding was complete, the same flight attendant returned. He spent time kindly explaining why they could not move the passenger, spoke with them in a friendly way, and said he would do what he could to make their flight enjoyable. It ended up being a very positive and thoughtful interaction overall.
