I’m scheduled to travel from Vietnam to the United States this summer, and I booked the entire itinerary through Alaska Airlines.
Part of the journey is operated by Qatar Airways. One of those flights was recently cancelled, and I was moved to a different flight that now causes me to miss my onward connection.
I contacted Qatar, and they told me that because the ticket was issued through Alaska, only Alaska has control over the booking and can make changes.
However, when I called Alaska, they said there were no available rebooking options, even though I can clearly see several options on their website. They also told me they can only rebook me on flights operated by Alaska or Qatar, since those were the airlines on the original itinerary.
I found an alternative route that still uses Qatar for most of the trip, with the final leg operated by American Airlines, but Alaska is asking for an additional $500 to switch because that last segment is on a different partner.
Has anyone dealt with something similar or found a way to resolve this?
