That’s stressful when you’re literally at the airport and the app starts doing weird stuff.
The app showing business in the graphic but economy as the actual seat number is classic glitch behavior. Usually the written seat assignment is what counts, not the picture.
Sounds like an aircraft swap with fewer business seats and you got bumped. That part unfortunately happens. But good on you for tracking someone down instead of just accepting it in the app.
Getting moved to premium economy plus a refund for the business upgrade is actually a pretty fair outcome in this situation. Not ideal, but way better than being stuck in regular economy after paying extra.
Still annoying mid transit though. CDG is not where you want surprises.
