Hey everyone,
I flew today and my backpack was sent through as oversized luggage, even though it only weighed 8kg and its dimensions were 72 x 28 x 22 cm, which is under Ryanair’s stated limit (80 x 120 x 120).
I also made sure all the straps were tied up so nothing was loose or sticking out. I included a photo next to my partner’s suitcase, which was accepted even though it was actually bigger.
I wasn’t charged anything extra, they just made me drop it off at the oversized baggage area.
Was this just an overly strict staff member, or is there something specific about backpacks that makes them treated differently?
