I’m with this 100 percent. Airlines will happily penalize passengers for no-shows or skipping legs, but when they overbook and ruin your plans it’s just “here’s a voucher” and good luck.
Overbooking is a business choice, not an accident. If it actually cost airlines real money instead of being baked into the system, they’d stop doing it real fast. Right now there’s basically no downside for them.
