On a recent trip with United Airlines from ORD to SAN, we had already begun boarding when we were informed there was a significant mechanical issue with the aircraft and we would need to deplane.
Passengers were told that a replacement aircraft arriving from MCO would be used instead. Initially, it looked like this would turn into a long delay, especially once we had to move from one terminal area to another for reboarding.
However, the process ended up being surprisingly efficient. The entire plane was moved, the incoming aircraft arrived, and we were able to board the replacement flight with only a short delay.
Despite the disruption, the turnaround was handled well, and we ended up arriving in San Diego only about 30 minutes late.
