Seeing this and it’s almost midnight. Tons of people still stuck around, flights all over the place. Not surprised honestly, ORD + weather + crew timing is a perfect storm.
If your buddy already put his phone in airplane mode, odds are they’re sitting on the plane or stuck at the gate waiting for a crew or paperwork. AA ops at ORD late at night tend to unravel fast once delays stack.
Hopefully they at least get out instead of a full cancel, because rebooking this late out of Chicago is brutal.
