Booked four first class tickets for spring break about two months ago for myself, my wife, my daughter, and her friend. Each ticket was around $1800.
The friend just told us she can’t go because she doesn’t want to be away from home that long.
I called American Airlines and got mixed answers. One option was to buy a new ticket for someone else and then cancel the original and request a refund, but the same flight now costs almost double. They also said you can’t just change the passenger name.
The other option is giving the friend a flight credit for a year, which isn’t ideal since she’s the one who backed out.
Am I basically stuck with the $1800 credit, or are there any other options I might be missing?
