oor status indicator.
What it means:
Light ON → the cockpit door is locked/secured
Light OFF → the cockpit door is unlocked (usually only during boarding, deplaning, or specific procedures)
It’s there so flight attendants can quickly confirm the door is secured without knocking or calling the cockpit.
Why people confuse it with Wi-Fi:
It’s near the forward galley
It turns on shortly after departure (when Wi-Fi also comes on)
Different airlines use different symbols/locations for Wi-Fi indicators
Southwest does not use that light for Wi-Fi status. Wi-Fi status is handled through announcements and the onboard portal, not a physical cabin light.
