Haven’t sailed Royal in 5 years. Did Oasis for our honeymoon 13 years ago and loved it. This time… totally different vibe.
Booked 5pm dining and somehow got switched to My Time. Guest services gave me 5:30 reservations each night just filling random tables. Not the end of the world, but when you book something specific and it changes, it’s frustrating.
Deck chairs? Forget it. Even midday they’re camped out and packed so tight there’s barely space between them.
Activities were chaos. Trivia was full unless you showed up 45 minutes early. Tried origami, got there 30 minutes early and there were maybe enough supplies for half the room. People rushing up, kids grabbing stacks of paper. Just felt disorganized.
Food used to be a big reason we chose Royal. Now it feels very mass production. Same snacks out all day in the promenade.
Bars and venues felt understaffed. The whole ship just felt stretched thin.
I get it, it’s a sold out mega ship. But at full capacity the experience really suffers. I don’t think I’ll book another mega ship again.
