NYC Travel Nightmare: Flash Flooding, Suspended Trains & Cancelled Flights

I was just in NYC when the storm hit yesterday and it was absolute chaos. The flooding on the Clearview Expressway was insane cars literally submerged, people climbing onto rooftops. LIRR shut down completely on the Port Washington Branch, and flights at LaGuardia and JFK were either cancelled or massively delayed. I got stuck in Queens for hours trying to get back into Manhattan.

It’s a good reminder how quickly weather can mess with travel plans in the Northeast. If you’re visiting or transiting through NYC this weekend, check your routes constantly and don’t count on a last-minute commute. Has anyone else ever gotten caught up in NYC weather chaos like this? What’s your go-to backup plan when transit shuts down?
