Norwegian Star Skips Nuuk, Greenland Due to Wild Winds, Not Tropical Storm Erin

I was aboard the Norwegian Star when we had to skip our stop in Nuuk, Greenland and it had nothing to do with Tropical Storm Erin! As we neared the coast, winds picked up to 80 mph with heavy rain, making docking or tendering unsafe. The captain made the call around 7:30 a.m. and we spent the day at sea instead, with bonus activities on board.

Honestly, I was bummed at first, but I get it Greenland port calls are always weather-dependent. The fjords are stunning but tricky. Has anyone else cruised to Greenland and had to skip a port? Or managed to make all your stops? Share your Greenland cruise experiences!

High winds have made it impossible for Norwegian Star to visit her first port of call in Greenland and the ship will remain at sea instead.
