Hello,
I’ve stayed at three different Marriott properties recently while traveling across the country with my husband and our three cats. Each booking was made in advance with pets declared, and I expected the standard pet fee to apply.
However, after checkout, I noticed that the pet fee was not included on the final receipts at any of the three hotels. There was no mention of it at checkout either, even though everything was clearly communicated in advance.
My husband uses Marriott Explore rates, and when booking through that, the pet fee usually appears automatically, so I don’t think this is a booking issue.
We do have fairly large cat carriers, and in some cases staff barely acknowledged the pets, but I assumed the fee would still be applied consistently regardless.
We are now at a fourth hotel, and this time multiple staff members actively confirmed and visually checked our cats at check-in. So I’m trying to understand whether the missing charges were intentional, an oversight, or just inconsistent enforcement of the pet policy.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of inconsistency with pet fees at Marriott properties?
