Diamond Elite here and ran into something frustrating. Stayed at Hotel Indigo Silverthorne, CO and was told at check in that the free breakfast benefit doesn’t apply because their restaurant is now “third party.”
What annoyed me is I stayed here earlier this year and got the breakfast benefit just fine. One of the main reasons I booked this place again was for breakfast. Instead they offered 600 points as a welcome amenity, which is basically a couple bucks and nowhere near breakfast for two over multiple mornings.
We still ate at the restaurant a few times and were able to charge the meals to our room, which makes the whole “third party” explanation feel pretty questionable.
If the restaurant truly doesn’t qualify, that should be clearly disclosed on the hotel’s website. Their own site still lists it as an on site full service restaurant located in the lobby.
Is anyone else seeing more IHG properties do this to get around the Diamond breakfast benefit?
