I recently had a great experience arriving early for a high-speed rail connection at Paris Gare de Lyon, where I ended up dining at Le Train Bleu. The setting, service, and overall atmosphere were exceptional and made the wait for my train feel like part of the journey itself.
It got me thinking about similar experiences in the United States. I’m curious what the nicest restaurants, cafés, or bars are located inside active Amtrak stations.
I know Grand Central Terminal has some iconic spots like The Campbell Apartment, but since it no longer serves Amtrak, I’m specifically interested in restaurants or lounges within current Amtrak stations.
Are there any stations in the U.S. that come close to that kind of elevated dining or lounge experience while waiting for a train?
