New high-speed Acela trains are Here but still no love for Albany?

It’s wild to see Amtrak rolling out these sleek new Acela trains that hit 160 mph, just not in upstate New York. Even though they’re made right in Hornell, the Capital Region won’t see them due to the lack of electric infrastructure and CSX’s resistance to overhead lines. Instead, we’re getting those new Airo diesel-electric trains in a few years, which still top out at 125 mph but probably won’t hit that often on our tracks.

Honestly, I’d love to see a true high-speed rail link between Albany and NYC, imagine shaving that ride down to under two hours.
