Got approved for the Platinum on 12/17 and Amex overnighted it to me. As soon as I activated it, I added $100 to my United Travel Bank totally forgot I hadn’t selected my airline yet. About 30 minutes later, I chose United.
Charge showed as “UNITED ELEC TICKET” and posted with a fake ticket number, but the $100 airline credit still hit a few days later. So it does work, even if you buy before selecting.
Also got instant credits for Walmart+, Uber One, Saks, Lululemon, CLEAR, and FHR all posted super fast. Honestly, this card pays for itself if you stay on top of the perks.
