I wouldn’t risk that.

Even if it’s just one more stop, Route 128 is technically a different city and usually a higher fare than Providence. Conductors scan tickets and it’ll show your destination. If you’re still on after Providence, they’ll notice.

Best case they charge you the difference on board. Worst case you pay a higher walk up fare.

I get not wanting to deal with calling, but honestly changing it ahead of time is probably way less stressful than explaining it mid trip.

Amtrak can be chill, but I wouldn’t assume they’ll just wave you through because it’s “only one stop.”
