Hello, I believe I experienced multiple issues with Turkish Airlines (TK) on a recent trip and I’m trying to understand whether I have any basis for compensation or support.
Issue 1: Boarding without a confirmed onward ticket
I booked an LAX → IST → DXB round trip. At LAX, staff were able to issue my boarding pass to Istanbul, but not onward to Dubai. They instead gave me a transit card and told me my boarding pass would be issued in Istanbul.
Issue 2: Incorrect reassurance at departure airport
When I questioned the LAX staff, they assured me I would have no issues in Istanbul and that my luggage and travel to Dubai were confirmed, so I proceeded with the flight.
Issue 3: Stranded in Istanbul
At IST, I was repeatedly sent between counters trying to get my boarding pass to DXB. Eventually I was denied boarding due to visa/entry confirmation issues. I was left in the airport overnight and later had to book a separate flight via Emirates to reach Dubai successfully.
Issue 4: Conflicting booking information after cancellation
While in Dubai, my return flight appeared active in “Manage My Booking,” with options to change it freely. Later, when I attempted changes from another location, the system showed errors and I was told my return booking had been cancelled because I missed the IST–DXB segment.
Issue 5: Return segment cancelled without notice
Despite being present for the original journey and being denied boarding at the gate, the airline cancelled the remaining segments of my ticket without notifying me.
Right now, my travel plans have been heavily disrupted and I’m unsure what options I have for reimbursement or compensation. I would appreciate any advice, especially regarding passenger rights or similar experiences.
