I had a flight out of Chicago scheduled for around 8pm today. I went through check-in, dropped my bags, and everything seemed normal until I received an email just minutes before boarding stating that the flight had been cancelled after being delayed earlier in the evening.
I was fortunately able to get a full refund and managed to rebook a flight for tomorrow with American Airlines.
What surprised me most was how last-minute the cancellation happened, especially after already completing check-in and bag drop. Before processing my refund, I was even offered the option to rebook for tomorrow or take a $500 credit valid for the next five years, which I declined.
I have flown Spirit many times in the past and never experienced issues like this before, which is why this situation was unexpected.
Has anyone else experienced very last-minute cancellations like this with Spirit recently?
