First time leaving the UK and flying anywhere, and I went big: Newcastle to London to Denver. I was super nervous after reading horror stories about US immigration, but it turned out great.
I’m autistic and traveled with airport assistance, which helped a ton. Immigration asked me about my trip and who I was visiting (friends I met years ago in a Futurama fan group, lol). They pulled me for secondary, but the officer was super friendly even started chatting about Futurama and cleared me in minutes.
Honestly, it was a really positive first travel experience. Way less scary than people made it sound.
