Trip report from my journey on Amtrak's River Runner service from Chicago to St. Louis.
This was my first experience with these seats, and unfortunately it will probably be my last. I already have back issues, and I found the seats extremely uncomfortable. By the time I reached St. Louis, I was spending time standing in the vestibule because sitting had become too painful.
Aside from the seating, the trip itself was enjoyable. The ride was smooth, although the scenery was fairly limited unless you enjoy views of farmland and wind turbines, with the river crossing into St. Louis being the main highlight.
Thankfully, my return trip will be on the Texas Eagle instead.
