My dad landed at Terminal 7 and tried to grab a regular yellow cab to my place. He said he waited in the taxi line but was told yellow cabs were only going to Manhattan, which already sounds strange to me.
They ended up putting him in a different car that was not Uber or Lyft. Supposedly it was another company. The car had cameras and could print receipts, so it looked kind of official, but the whole thing feels sketchy.
I was not there so I do not know if he misunderstood something, but he definitely paid a really high fare. I am just glad he arrived safe with all his luggage. Still, this is making me think I should just pick him up myself next time.
