I’m trying to prepay gratuities for two upcoming cruises with MSC Cruises, but I’ve run into a confusing issue.
One of my bookings is my first Yacht Club cruise (interior cabin, but Yacht Club access). When I originally called after the gratuity price increase notice, I tried to prepay for both cruises.
For the Yacht Club sailing, I was charged the standard $16/day per guest rate instead of the expected Yacht Club rate of $20/day. I questioned it, but the agent told me their system only showed the lower rate option for my booking, so I left it.
Now that gratuities are about to increase again, I called back to fix it and make sure I’m paying the correct amount. However, I was again told that the only option showing on their end is the lower rate, even though they can see I’m booked in Yacht Club.
I’m a bit stuck because:
I want to prepay correctly and avoid surprises onboard
But MSC’s system only allows the lower gratuity charge
I don’t want to get charged a different amount later on the ship
Has anyone dealt with something similar or know the correct way to handle this? Is there a way to force an adjustment or document it properly so it doesn’t become an issue later?
