We recently completed an MSC transatlantic cruise from Miami to Civitavecchia (April 9 to April 24). This was not our first cruise, but it was our first repositioning transatlantic sailing.
Overall, the experience was far better than expected. The weather was mostly calm, with only mild movement at the beginning of the voyage. The atmosphere onboard was very friendly, with polite passengers and a welcoming crew. Many experienced cruisers were onboard, and there were even small activities like people hiding cruise ducks around the ship, which made the experience more fun. The captain was also frequently visible and interacted with guests, contributing to a relaxed and positive environment. The ship felt calm and well organized throughout the crossing.
After arriving in Civitavecchia, we continued on a back-to-back cruise, but the onboard atmosphere felt noticeably different compared to the transatlantic segment.
The transatlantic portion of the trip set a very high standard for us, and we are now concerned that future cruises may not feel as enjoyable in comparison.
We are looking for recommendations for similar experiences, especially in terms of itineraries and season.
