I recently returned from a 7-night MSC Seashore cruise (Port Canaveral → Nassau → Cozumel → Costa Maya → Ocean Cay) and wanted to share a detailed trip report since this community helped me plan the journey.
We planned the entire trip independently without cruise excursions, relying on research and exploring each port on our own. We focused on local food, beaches, snorkeling, history, and wildlife rather than tourist-heavy tours.
Some highlights included seeing a rocket launch near the Space Coast before boarding, exploring Nassau and Cozumel independently, snorkeling with marine life including sharks, visiting the Chacchoben ruins in Costa Maya, and enjoying Ocean Cay’s natural scenery. We also collected shells and sea glass, and had some unexpected memorable moments like finding a sand dollar and watching a Falcon 9 launch on the way back.
The trip showed us that some of the best experiences are unplanned. While we prepared detailed itineraries for each port, many of the most memorable moments happened spontaneously.
I also kept extensive planning notes covering Nassau, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Ocean Cay, embarkation logistics, dining reviews, transportation, budgeting, and packing strategies.
Everything went according to plan, and we always returned to the ship on time.
