I’m currently sailing on the MSC Meraviglia and have found the overall experience to be quite disappointing, with noticeable declines in service and operations.
Embarkation:
Boarding at the Brooklyn terminal was extremely slow and disorganized, with wait times exceeding two hours. There were long queues, limited support for elderly passengers and families, and no accessible restroom facilities during the wait.
Kids club:
One of the main reasons I chose MSC was for the kids club, but the experience has changed significantly. Children are no longer taken to lunch or dinner as before. These services are now only available on sea days for an additional fee, and the club itself opens later in the morning, which is a downgrade from previous expectations.
Staffing and service:
There appears to be reduced staffing across the ship. In the buffet, there are no roaming waiters, requiring guests to order drinks from the bar, which becomes crowded. In the main dining room, service feels understaffed, with long delays between ordering and receiving food, and limited attention from waitstaff due to heavy workloads.
Food quality:
Dessert options have been particularly disappointing. The selection appears repetitive throughout the week, and the quality is poor, items are often described as dry and lacking flavor. Even specific dishes, such as carrot cake, are inconsistent with expectations.
Overall, the experience feels like a decline in service quality, with operational inefficiencies and reduced amenities compared to previous cruises.
