Thinking about taking Amtrak for my move from Chicago to NYC since I really don’t want to deal with airports, TSA, showing up early, bag limits, all that. Never taken Amtrak before. It’s a 20-hour ride with no train change, and it’s also cheaper than flying if I book ahead.
I’ll have a backpack, two carry-on size bags, plus maybe I’ll ship a box to my Airbnb. No furniture just clothes, documents, art stuff, and small household things. Basically everything I own.
Is 20 hours in coach doable for a smaller woman? Rooms are crazy expensive, so coach at 80 bucks is tempting. How’s the food on this route actually decent, or should I plan for snacks? And has anyone done a full move on Amtrak before? Anything I’m not thinking about?
