I was pleasantly surprised to receive an unexpected upgrade from Premium Select to Delta One, likely because Premium Select was oversold, though I am not certain.
I was very impressed with the Delta One Lounge at LAX, especially the steak frites. The onboard Delta One experience was fine, but somewhat underwhelming compared to my expectations. The dining and overall service did not feel significantly different from Premium Select.
The lie-flat seat felt quite cramped when fully reclined, and at 6'2" I found it uncomfortable to sleep in.
Overall, I am very grateful for the complimentary upgrade, but I cannot imagine paying full price for it, even on a long-haul flight. I also noticed a 360 member onboard, and the flight attendant made a noticeable effort to acknowledge them, which was interesting to see.
