We recently saw the Carnival Horizon depart from Curacao while a group of passengers was still onshore and ended up being left behind.
One member of their group was seen walking away with documents and a bag that cruise staff had provided. It got us wondering what actually happens in situations like this.
If passengers miss departure and the ship sails without them, what kinds of penalties, fees, or responsibilities are typically applied? Do they have to cover their own travel to the next port, repatriation costs, or additional charges from the cruise line?
Just curious how this is usually handled in practice.
