Had a bit of a scare last week that might help someone else avoid the same panic.
My earlier flight was delayed and I ended up missing my international connection. My biggest worry wasn’t even getting to my destination, it was that the airline’s no show policy would automatically cancel my return ticket. Rebooking that would have been over $1,000.
My schedule was tight, so I had someone help contact the airline while I was figuring out the next steps. Thankfully we were able to confirm the return ticket was still valid.
A couple things that helped during the process:
First, have all the key info ready before calling. Flight numbers, ticket type, and proof of the delay.
Second, timing matters. My first call hit a 120 minute hold and timed out. Tried again early the next morning and got through much faster.
And most important, ask the agent to actually update the ticket in the system, not just verbally confirm it’s fine.
