Has anyone else noticed extreme fare increases on Alaska Airlines recently?
I was searching for flights from Anchorage to Japan for Sept/Oct and also checking Korea routes, and almost every round-trip option was coming back at a minimum of around $1500. When I adjusted dates further out, prices sometimes climbed to $2500 even months in advance.
For comparison, I booked a Japan round-trip earlier this year for about $800, so the jump feels huge.
I also checked domestic routes like Anchorage to Philadelphia, and those were surprisingly expensive as well. I noticed references to “new Alaska” branding, and it made me wonder if these higher costs are tied to fleet changes or operational updates.
Between rising fares and what seems like higher redemption costs with miles, travel is starting to feel significantly more expensive overall. Has anyone else experienced similar price spikes or has insight into what is driving this?
