I have a booking on a Princess Cruises sailing in August in the Mediterranean for the eclipse, and I paid for a balcony cabin for two people.
I originally booked the trip hoping my husband and I could repair our relationship, especially since he is interested in eclipses. However, things are no longer working out between us, and he is unlikely to participate in the trip in any meaningful way.
Now I’m trying to decide what to do, since we are about 95 days away from departure:
Travel with him anyway, even though he is disengaged, and try to make the most of it alone
Cancel the trip and attempt to recover some money through insurance, although I’m not sure this situation would qualify
Replace his booking with someone else, such as my mother or a friend, if that is still possible this close to departure
Go alone but still pay for two passengers, which feels wasteful but may be the simplest option financially
I’m mainly trying to understand what practical options I still have at this stage and what typically works with cruise bookings in situations like this.
